When Mobile’s Saenger Theatre opened in 1927 it was hailed as “the most beautiful playhouse in all of Dixie.” Since its opening, it has hosted vaudeville shows, movies, theatrical productions, special events, and concerts. Currently it serves as a Performing Arts Center and home to the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. This painting depicts the colorful marquee and bright lights at the entrance, welcoming evening guests to another exciting performance at the Saenger.

I enjoy painting with a variety of bold colors, values, and textures to attract the viewer and hold their interest. I love the transparency of watercolor, which allows me to create numerous colorful varieties and effects. Primarily I paint on watercolor canvas, which enhances the brightness and color of my paintings. My subjects are landscapes, city scenes, and local attractions which highlight the traditions and relaxed lifestyle of South Alabama where I live, and scenes in Italy, the land of my ancestors. IMy paintings can be seen at the Cathedral Square Gallery in Mobile, Alabama where I am a resident artist and at several other locations in Alabama and Georgia.
