I have had a number of requests for prints of historic Bienville Square, named after the founder of Mobile. It has been a landmark in Mobile since Congress gave the property to the city nearly two hundred years ago for use as a park. I found an apt description of Bienville Square in Trip Advisor, written by a traveler: “Surrounded by many of the old Mobile buildings, the park still stands as restful, well-groomed, and is still home to the squirrels and birds that have been here for many generations”. Recently Hurricane Sally knocked down seventeen oak trees in the park but we are happy to report there was no damage to the fountain or the squirrels.
Hopefully this painting conveys the sense of peace and beauty in the spring during the azalea season.
I enjoy painting with a variety of bold colors, values, and textures to attract the viewer and hold their interest. I love the transparency of watercolor, which allows me to create numerous colorful varieties and effects. Primarily I paint on watercolor canvas, which enhances the brightness and color of my paintings. My subjects are landscapes, city scenes, and local attractions which highlight the traditions and relaxed lifestyle of South Alabama where I live, and scenes in Italy, the land of my ancestors. IMy paintings can be seen at the Cathedral Square Gallery in Mobile, Alabama where I am a resident artist and at several other locations in Alabama and Georgia.
