This painting is a view of the Mobile, Alabama skyline from across the Mobile River. Sunset creates a golden glow in the sky, throughout the downtown area, and along the river. Looking from left to right, the larger buildings include: the Mobile Government Plaza, the Convention Center, Riverview Plaza Hotel, Mobile Convention Center, the RSA Bank Trust Building, and the RSA Tower.
The original measures 20 x 14 inches and was painted on watercolor paper.
I enjoy painting with a variety of bold colors, values, and textures to attract the viewer and hold their interest. I love the transparency of watercolor, which allows me to create numerous colorful varieties and effects. Primarily I paint on watercolor canvas, which enhances the brightness and color of my paintings. My subjects are landscapes, city scenes, and local attractions which highlight the traditions and relaxed lifestyle of South Alabama where I live, and scenes in Italy, the land of my ancestors. IMy paintings can be seen at the Cathedral Square Gallery in Mobile, Alabama where I am a resident artist and at several other locations in Alabama and Georgia.
